A 10-run nightmare followed by a dream ‘perfect game’ in the next start.

Domingo Hermann, 31, of the New York Yankees, became the 24th player in Major League Baseball (MLB) history to throw a perfect game.

In the Yankees’ 11-0 victory over the visiting Oakland Athletics on April 29, Herrmann retired 27 batters on 10 hits, nine walks and eight ground balls while not allowing a single base runner. It was the first time in 10 years, 10 months, 13 days (3969 days) since Felix Hernandez (37, Seattle) on Aug. 16, 2012 that a perfect game was thrown in the MLB.먹튀검증

Hermann, the fourth Yankees pitcher and first from the Dominican Republic to throw a perfect game, said, “My uncle passed away two days ago. I cried a lot in the clubhouse yesterday. I think my late uncle was with me throughout the game, and because of that, every play was literally perfect. I want to dedicate today’s game to him.”

Hermann, who made his MLB debut in 2017, was a “meh” pitcher with a career record of 30-26 and a 4.48 ERA before this game. This year, he was 4-5 with a 5.10 ERA. Only David Wells (60, Yankees) and Herrmann have ever thrown a perfect game with a season ERA over 5.00 on May 18, 1998. Wells had a 5.23 ERA at the time.

Herrmann has fared worse recently. In his last start, on March 23, he was booed off the mound by fans after giving up 10 runs (eight earned) in three and a third innings against Seattle. Herrmann is the first pitcher in MLB history to throw a perfect game after giving up eight or more earned runs in his previous start.
