“Don’t be alarmed” ‘silent siren’ for 10:01 a.m. tomorrow, Memorial Day

Sirens will sound for one minute of silence nationwide tomorrow (June 6) at 10 a.m. in observance of the 68th Memorial Day.

Today (May 5), the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that the sirens will be sounded to encourage all Koreans to observe a moment of silence at the same time, as part of a memorial ceremony to reflect on the sublime patriotic spirit of the nation’s메이저사이트 soldiers and sailors who dedicated and sacrificed for the defense of the homeland.

“On the 31st of last month, a warning alert was issued in the Seoul area due to the launch of a North Korean reconnaissance satellite, causing the public to be alarmed,” said Hong Jong-wan, a civil defense inspector. “As the siren sounding for this Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony is not a civil air defense alert siren due to an enemy attack, the public can observe a minute of silence with a reverent heart and then return to their daily lives.”
