The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has taken note of South Korean women’s table tennis sensation Shin Yubin (19)’s upset victory at the Table Tennis World Championships.
Shin Yubin, ranked 26th in the world in women’s singles, defeated Yuan Jiannan (18th-FRANCE) 4-3 (9-11 11-9 11-9 8-11 9-11 11-5 12-10) in the round of 32 of the Women’s Singles at the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships 2023 at the International Convention Center in Durban, South Africa, on Friday.
The International Table Tennis Federation highlighted the match with a post on its official social media site titled “Xin Yubin wins dramatic victory in intergenerational clash”. “18-year-old Xin Yubin defeated 37-year-old Yuan Jianan in a dramatic showdown to reach the round of 16,” the federation wrote.
“Playing at the World Championships for only the second time, the two players are separated by eight places in the world rankings메이저사이트, but this time it was a close match,” the federation said, explaining that the first meeting at the 2020 German Open was a 4-0 win for Yuan Jianan.
“A very composed Xin Yubin sets up an exciting clash with world number one Sun Yingxia (CHN) in the round of 16,” the federation added.
